Three-time premiership- winning Noosa player-coach Noel Goldthorpe is set to apply for a coaching role with the Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles.
However he is not yet sure if he wants to make the move away from the Pirates in 2009.
The Sea Eagles are looking for coaches for their FOGs Cup and colts teams, to work under head coach Brandon Costin, who will take charge of the Queensland Cup side.
Goldthorpe, with almost 200 games of NRL experience and three premierships as Pirates coach, looks to be a prime candidate – if he wants the job.
“I’m not sure about what I’m going to do next year at the moment,” the 38-year-old said.
“I’m trying not to think about footy for a few weeks and relax a bit.
“Once I’ve done that, I’ll work out what I want to do.
“If I’m going to do something, I want to be 100% committed to doing it.
“I don’t want to rush into a job without thinking properly about it.”
Goldthorpe has rated the Pirates’ Maroochy RSL Cup win this season as the best coaching achievement of his three premierships at Noosa. After moving down from North Queensland, the former NSW Super League representative has made four consecutive first grade grand finals, but his 2008 side was the most inexperienced of the lot.
Goldthorpe said he would enjoy working with Costin, a former teammate at Wests in Sydney, if they teamed up at Stockland Park.
“I’ll do up my resume to send to them and then see what happens,” he said.
